After such a long time I am writing on my blog. More than 2 years I guess. And I was surprised to see that the last blogs are there available and intact. Something technology can do. And it is amazing. Now, the reason I wanted to blog is, Reading. Once I start reading, I cant stop! Well, not sure whether it is good or bad. Well, I don't know how can an author not get tired of the books he publish on and off, when it have the same themes and repetitions. For instance Chetan Bhagat. He is definitely a good author with his style and ease of presentation. But then recently I read another book and then, what is new? IIT/IIM, stress, bunking classes, good looking girl, average looking boys, boring lectures, fat pay cheques. I don't know why he cant come out of the usual pattern! After sometime it become so predictive! Then take Dan Brown. I immensely enjoyed reading Davinci Code and Angels & Demons. But Inferno. Well, Robert Langdon don't know what he is doing why he is in a particular place, everybody is out to kill him and a Female who definitely has above average intelligence helps him in his escapades. Is not these themes repetitive. oh! almost forgot robbery from Mueseum! I respect and admire Dan Brown for his knowledge and grasp on history, symbols, books and everything. So, I strongly believe he can do much better than the repetition of themes. So, when I read Karna's wife by Kavitha Kane it was a refreshing difference. No overload of information. simple free flowing language. And she had the same questions I had whenever I read The great Epic Mahabarath. If Arjuna is the greatest Warrior, how could Ekalavya out do him? Only because he was born in lower class he was denied education and he was refused even the fruit of his dedication and commitment. I did not like Drona and Arjuna! Then came Karna, again if Arjuna was sure to win why trick Karna? And strangely Karna gave up his birth shields, Vowed to his mother regarding usage of his weapons and knew he was fighting against his brothers. I respect the righteous Karna than the gambling Yuddishtra for his virtues! So, loved to read a different view point. And interestingly, I went back to the times I read M.T. Vasudevan Nair's 'Randamoozham' where Bhima is the Hero. I loved that as well. So, if there are anyone out there thinking of a different version and different view point of Mahabarth, let it out. I will read for sure. Probability of me liking is high, so you have atleast one sure reader :) Robert Galbraith - The Cuckoo is Calling, The Silk Worm. Interesting read.. A handicapped, below average looking almost giant like private detective with a sense of humor and good logical reasoning. The first book I guessed the culprit earlier on. Second book had my suspects list but could not point on one person. Apart from the suspense, the flow of writing was good, and simple. Most thing made sense and Cormoran Strike- definitely different name and he eats! So, a usual normal man with his deductive abilities and good training is solving murders. Very likely and interesting. I hope the trend continues.. so, that is that. I did not mean this as book review. but just my thoughts. My muses rather...
